Like ripples that carry outward

Opening, softly

Petal by petal

Like a dahlia, like a lotus through the mud

Dirt was used to build a garden

To let seeds root and sprout

To let flowers bloom

To let the ecosystem balance itself out and thrive

Like ripples that carry outwards

Letting seeds scatter

Letting spent flowers decay, nourish and replenish nutrients

Enriching the soil

Letting the rain softy wash and be reabsorbed

Allowing the sun to warm and dry

The cycle of nature to take its course

For the garden to be stronger and more plentiful

Where my scattered thoughts flow into verses

Line by line, word by word

Until my mind slows, until I soften into surrender
